4 months old!

Dear Alice,
You are 4 months old today.
I know what you're thinking.
"What!? Already!?"

It's true.
You're getting so big; growing like a weed.
You smile and laugh all the time now.
It's the cutest thing ever!
Not only do you laugh, can also anticipate the tickles coming your way.
Its our favorite party trick these days.

You're also very talkative.
You "sing"...Ooo's and ahhh's while the music is on.
We love it.

You are so beautiful, Alice Claire.

Guess what you did this past weekend.
You rolled over from belly to back!
However, you refuse to show us your new trick.
Both times we found you on your back after a nap.

I think you love Jack.

You watch him all the time.
He makes you smile.
I think the two of you will be good friends.

You are quite expressive.
You make it very clear to us when you're unhappy.
Most of the time, it's not a cry.
It's a grunt or a scream to let us know you're dissatisfied.

You are very interested in toys.
First you see it, then you grab it and pull it to your mouth.
You found your feet a couple weeks ago.
They are your favorite toys.

I love being your mommy.
It's the best job I've ever had!

Your mommy

1. I got a Silhouette machine for my birthday!
It cuts paper, vinyl, and iron-ons.
It's a really fun thing to play with.
Here's my first project:
That's a prettty Mac!

2. Ben is playing softball with his company.
A bunch of our friends went with me to his game the other night.
It was fun!
Ben had 2 great hits, but the team lost.
Maybe next time, CCB!

3. Ben's grandmother, Grandma AJ (Alice Jean), came to visit!
We are so blessed to have such amazing grandparents!

4. I got the new iPhone and LOVE it!
It takes great pictures and videos.
It's so fun taking quick videos of Alice and emailing them to Ben at work.
This is from Grandma AJ's 80th birthday party:
This picture would have been super blurry with my old phone.
I love technology. :)

5. I'm making progress with my summer list.

Things to do this summer-

1. Make a homemade mojito

2. Go to the driving range

3. Have a Slush Puppie

4. Go to a garage sale

5. Get a treat from the ice cream truck

6. Go to the farmer's market

7. Turn 31

8. Go to the drive-in

9. Watch a sunset

10. Run the Jack Quinns on a Tuesday night--I'm scratching this.
Instead my goal is to complete Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred.
(I just finished day 8. Wish me luck. I think Jillian is trying to kill me.)
With it being a bajillion degrees everyday and with Alice's nap times, it's been hard finding time to run.
This workout is doable for me.

11. Take a nap in the hammock

12. Play croquet

13. Roast marshmallows

14. Make a banana split

15. Make fresh salsa using the tomatoes and cilantro from the garden

16. Have a water gun fight

17. Learn more about my camera

18. Take Alice on her first camping trip

19. Have a picnic

20. Plant flowers

21. Recreate this picture:

22. Play miniature golf

23. Outdoor movie night

24. Date nights with Ben

Bieber Fever

Alice wakes up with Justin Bieber hair.
That means her hair is attacking her face.

Here's your visual:

I definitely don't understand this whole Bieber phenomenon.
Maybe it's no different than the childhood crush I had on Zach Morris on Saved by the Bell.
Then again, after seeing this YouTube video I think it's different...and weird.

We went camping with some of our favorite friends this past weekend.

We tossed a few things in the car and off we went!

Just kidding about the "few" things.
I packed up our house.
We had a Taj Mahal of a tent, an air mattress, bassinet for Alice, bouncy seat, Beco carrier, tons of food...we could have easily made it another few days. :)

It was a perfect weekend!
Lots of time for relaxing and reading...

defending our campsite from geese...

and spending time with friends.

Alice was a camping champ!

Her sleeping arrangement:

This was officially her last time sleeping in the bassinet.
She's too big for it now!

We've learned that she's happiest spending time outside.

(I stole this picture from my friend, Carey.)

Ben was pretty sick at the beginning of the trip. :(
By Saturday night (with the help of antibiotics) he was feeling much better.
What a good sport!
(I stole this picture, too.)

More camping pictures and stories can be found on Jennifer's blog, Katie's blog, and Jen's blog.
They did a MUCH better job of documenting the weekend than I did.

31 and Hudson

I had a really nice birthday.

I made a cake.

We celebrated with our k-group friends.
I had a sweet hat!

The girls gave me the most thoughtful gifts!

They based it off of my summer to-do list!
These are the gift tags made by the super-talented Jennifer Cheney:

It was such a fun surprise.

The birthday festivities continued with the balloon ride on Sunday.
I already wrote about that.

On my actual birthday (yesterday) we got a new roof.
The sound of people walking and pounding on the roof is enough to drive me insane.
Therefore, I spent the day out of the house.
Chiropractor, visited with Ben's mom, hung out with Cathy and Hudson, ran some errands...
That night we celebrated with the family at Squeak Soda Shop.
All in all, it was a great birthday!

Changing the subject...

Hudson was born 11 weeks after Alice.
He's her first friend.
We took some pictures them the other day and here are a few of my favorites...

Alice is bigger now, but I have a feeling it won't be that way for long.

What a handsome guy!

I love this one!

That's all for now. :)

Balloon ride!

Ben woke me up very early yesterday morning.

He surprised me with a hot air balloon ride for my birthday!
He remembered from a couple years ago how much I loved the balloon glo.

We dropped Alice off with Ben's parents and went to the launch site.

The crew getting the balloon set up:

Inside the balloon:
So pretty!

Ben and I were tons of help. :)

About ready to go!

And we're off!

We flew by the airport:

It was a beautiful morning!

After about an hour and a half, our pilot found a good place to land...in some guy's backyard!
Thankfully, he said people are generally very nice about balloons landing on their property.

Ben helped take the balloon down:

When we got back to the launch site, our pilot, Dave, told us about the history of ballooning and did a little ceremony for first time fliers.
We were asked to drink the champagne without using our hands.
While we were distracted, they poured water on us!

Then, there was a little tailgate with the other balloon pilots, passengers, and chase crews.

What a fun birthday surprise!!
My husband is awesome!
