Best. Jammies. Ever.
A clown riding a moon?
Despite the look on her face, she loves these
How could she not?
6 months old!
Happy half birthday, Alice!
We took a little trip to the apple orchard yesterday.
Thanks for obliging to my picture taking. :)
Our sweet daughter, you are growing so fast.
Please slow down just a bit.
You're sitting up like a champ!
It makes you seem much older.
Contrary to the picture below, we still haven't given you solid foods.
(Why have we delayed solids?
We believe this
. Our plan is to do "
baby led weaning
" once she shows
signs of readiness
I love when you babble and "sing" along to music.
It's the cutest!
Your favorite things to do:
Jump in the Johnny Jump-Up
Swing in the hammock with Daddy
Play with my hair
Go for walks
Cuddle in the sling
Chew on toys
You're not crazy about me leaving you you.
You're REALLY not crazy about Daddy and I both leaving you.
However, we only leave you with people who know and love you almost as much as we do. :)
You make the saddest face when you're upset.
Your lips make a huge frown, you little nose turns red, and your eyes fill with tears.
It's enough to break my heart.
Your laugh is contagious.
You laugh at Daddy and Jack the most.
It makes my day to see you give an all-out belly laugh.
Alice Claire, you bring us so much joy.
Thank you for making me a mommy.

Picture taking fail
I tried to take some pictures of Alice since she'll be 6 months old on Monday and she's now sitting up on her own.
"Tried" is the key word.
She refused to cooperate.
(Click on the collage to make it bigger.)
I think my favorites are top right and bottom right. :)
Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
I have 6 sisters, including my sisters-in-law.
Sisters are the best.
We can fight hard, but we love hard.
2 of the 6 have blogs.
Chrissy just brought home 3 little ones from Ethiopia making a grand total of 7 kiddos!
When I think about how hard my day was, or how much I hate laundry, I think of her.
She's an awesome mama.
Yesterday was her birthday!
If I had loads of money, I would get her a spa day, a 15 passenger van, a house cleaner, and an endless supply of gluten-free snacks.
It's the thought that counts, right?
You can follow her story
Cassie, who I usually call Dash, just started a blog.
She is quite the fashionista.
I often think, "That outfit would look ridiculous on me and she rocks it!"
Cassie's style is unique and edgy without being trashy.
I like that.
You can see what Dash is writing about
Chrissy (3 years older) and Cassie (8 years younger) are similar in that they were the family drama queens.
Most families have their 1 token drama queen.
We were blessed with 2. :)
However, both have turned into very cool adults.
They still know how to keep family get togethers lively, though!
I liked having sisters when I was growing up, but I LOVE having them now.

I just unloaded the pictures from my phone.

I went to Breckenridge...
with these girls.
We checked out Oktoberfest,
and did a little shopping.
We rode the gondola.
The aspens are changing.
Some had a the full spectrum of fall colors.
Cathy and I left our babies overnight for the first time.
These 3 brought theirs along. :)
That night we went to dinner, laughed a LOT, sat outside by a fire, and chatted until early morning.
This morning we leisurely woke up, hung out for awhile, got dressed and loaded up the cars.
Some of us declared a hat day.
We took a mandatory cheesy group photo and headed out for breakfast.
Though it was a short trip, it was so fun and relaxing.
Thank you, Carey, for organizing it for us!!
My first night away from Alice was a success thanks to my awesome husband.
What a fun weekend!
I needed that. :)

Alice's hair becomes unleashed after its washed.
(I love when she smiles so big her nose crinkles.)
I never thought I'd have to comb out tangles in a 5-month-old's hair.
Oh, and the
I decided to keep it...for now.
Every time I see this book on the shelf...
my brain reads, "EPISIOTOMY".
Turns out, they are two very different things.
Still gives me the heebie-jeebies though.
Thankfully, this book sold on Amazon today.
Goodbye, heebie-jeebie book!

I love these people.
Our "small" group:
There are currently 18 of us, including the 2 babies.
By May 2011 there will be 22!
I met up with a new friend yesterday at a park.
(She recently opened a really cute store,
Cloth Diaper Market
Tracie has a super fancy camera and loves photography.
She graciously offered to show me a few tricks.
Here are some of the pictures straight out of the camera. No edits made.
At this point I'm thinking, "It's working! It's working!"
This is Alice's "my mom is crazy" face:
Dear "Manual" function,
I will figure you out.
Thank you, Tracie!
Ben likes to make fun of me for having a bajillion tabs open in my browser.
For awhile I bookmarked them, but then would always forget they were there.
So, I started a blog of the things I saw online, liked, and wanted to remember.
It's nothing special, but I thought I'd put it out there in case anyone wants to see it.
Don't get too excited.
Maybe you'll see something you like there, too.
You can click on any of the pictures to go to the source.

It's been a picture taking kind-of-day around here.
The blanket she's on is made out of my wedding dress.
I love it!
Alice 1, Jack 0
Alice tagged Jack.
Spit-up on the snout.
I pulled down this little bead toy for Alice.
It belonged to her cousins, Zion and Anatoli.
She seemed to really like it...
until she'd pull it toward her and it'd hit her in the face.
She forgave the offensive toy and moved on.
Then she decided to taste it.
If it's an older toy do I need to worry about the whole toys/lead/China thing?
Feeling Crafty, Part 3
Alright, this is the last installment of Feeling Crafty for awhile...I think.
I made a skirt.
The tutorial I saw online attached the skirt to the tank top to make a dress.
I chickened out of that step.
So, it's just a skirt, worn high, with a wide belt.
I thought the plaid would be fall-ish.
Instead it looks more school uniform-ish.

Feeling Crafty, Part 2
l open on my computer for about a month now.
I can finally close it. :)
Part 3 is a doozy.
We'll see if I post about it.

I hated it.
So last night when Alice when to sleep I started sewing.
They aren't perfect, but it's an improvement.

1. Our friends,
, are having a baby!
When they found out the gender they had us all dress in either blue or pink to indicate which "team" we thought Baby Klenke was on.
This is the outfit I subjected our kid to:
Turns out, Alice was right!
Baby girl Klenke is due in February.
I know at LEAST 10 pregnant women right now.
It's baby central these days!
2. I love when Alice sleeps with her little hands clasped.
3. We went to the Balloon Glo last night.
It's so fun!
That's all for now.
I hope you're enjoying your Labor Day weekend!
(Hi, Granny! I love you!)
3 weeks old:
23 weeks old:
I love that Alice can still wear some of her newborn dresses.
Even when the onesies, sleepers, and pants give up,
the sundresses and legwarmers are still hanging in there.
