16 months old!

Dear Alice,

Here are your 16-month-old stats:

Teeth: none
(You are an angry, drooling machine, though.
Any day now.
For reals this time.)
Weight: 20.6
Percentile: 5th-10th

Spoken words: 5
Signed words: 35-40

Favorite things:
pushing your babies in the stroller,
emptying out your cup drawer,
going outside,
putting Abby's pacifier in her mouth,
reading books,
blowing bubbles,
coloring with chalk,
and eating.

Things you aren't enjoying:
diaper changes,
swim lessons,
and getting in your car seat.

Other noteworthy things:
I can officially say you have weaned.
You made the call.
I supported your decision.

You're very opinionated these days.
You hate when things don't go your way.
Unfortunately for you, I have the stronger will.

Truths for you:
You have a sweet spirit.
You are incredibly entertaining,
making us laugh ALL the time.
Your Daddy and I love you so much it makes our hearts ache.
You wear us out; you have tons of energy.
You are a precious gift.

Love,
Your Mommy

6 things I'm excited about

1. Eating the entire bag is encouraged.

2. Fresh flowers make everything better.

3. One of my favorite thrift store finds from about 10 years ago
finally has a home in our living room.

Consider yourself warned.

4. Teeny-tiny table for a teeny-tiny girl.
(And two of her teeny-tiny friends.)

5. THURSDAY! IKEA!

6. Three packs of diapers= $10

(We still cloth diaper during the day.
Disposables at night, since she's in it for 12-13 hours.
Just in case you were wondering.
You probably weren't.)

Weekend O' Pictures

My camera was a busy girl this past weekend.

Alice was thrilled to have her picture taken with me:

Another house post

I decided to forego the bon bons and soap operas during nap time today.
Instead, I painted.

I haven't decided if the wall decor will stay, or not.
(I'd love your opinions!)
For now, it's better. :)

Cost: -$55
Had the paint.
Found the branch in the backyard.
Had the frames.
Free printables online.
Returned white pillows, purchased red pillows ($5 on clearance!)
When it was all said and done,
I made money on this project!

A cheap and easy fix

This morning's project...

I covered 2 stools and 3 chairs in about 45 minutes.
Cost: around $20 for the fabric, staple gun, and staples.
I should've done this months ago!

A Play Date

I met Sarah in our Bradley birthing class.
Her daughter was born a couple months before Alice.
It has been SUCH a blessing to have a friend who is experiencing everything
just before we do.

Kind of like in high school when your friend took the test 2 periods before you,
and would say, "Be sure to know about..."

It's so great.

We had an impromptu play date yesterday.
Playing in the pool and blueberry "ice cream" for the girls,
sangria and adult conversation for the moms.
Heavenly!

I hope Alice has really great girlfriends like I do.
Looks like she's well on her way.

3 completely unrelated things

1. I love that Alice loves books.
The other day Ben asked her, "Where is the leopard's nose?"
She pointed right to it.
What?!
She's generalizing concepts!

2. I painted our front door yesterday.

Before:

After:
What's that red speck?

That's our tiny lion door knocker that came with the house.
I love it.
If we ever move, which I hope we never do, it will be coming with us.

3. I got to hang out with Ella for a little bit today.
My friends have the cutest kids.

Okay, that's all for today.
Time to go do more painting.
The fun never ends around here!

A Getaway

We spent the weekend in Cripple Creek with a few friends.
We relaxed,
ate,
drank,
played,
read,
and ate some more.

Our only wish was that the other 1/2 of our small group could've been there.

Here's a few pictures from the weekend...

Alice taking Abby for a walk:

Being chased by Daddy:

Chikity-chillin' on the porch:

Steve teaching Abby when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em:

3/4 of the girls:
I hate that I didn't get my camera out when Sarah and Caleb were there!

 Klenkes:
 I LOVE Abby's smooched cheeks!

The Downings:

You wouldn't believe what we saw...
 I'd tell you,
but, again,
you wouldn't believe it.

We took a bunch of these...
I look like I'm sitting on the rail in all of them.
Jumping picture fail.

Awe, look!
He loves me!

The Kleibers!

Dear friends of ours, Katie and James, got married last weekend.
It was SUCH a fun day!

Carey and I showed up wearing the same dress.
How embarrassing!

Jen and Jennifer documented the day, too.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kleiber!
