June 20

I wonder if I'll always remember this date.
Our baby's due date.

Hi, Little Baby,
You are not forgotten.
I hope you are having the best birthday ever in Heaven.
I know you are.
I can't wait to meet you someday!
I love you.
Love, Your Mama

Highs and Lows

June has been crazy.
I just checked our calendar and June has 67 various appointments on it.
That's nuts.

It's also been a month of highs and lows.

High:
We're having a baby girl!

Low:
We went to court today for the little one.
It did not go the way we hoped.
We continue to wait.
And trust.
And hope.
And trust.
And wait.

High:
We sold the Volvo and bought a van!
Just when you didn't think we could get any less cool...
Alice: "Look Mama! I match the van!"
She wore pajamas with an angel costume on top to the grocery store this morning.
We're classy like that.

Low:
Freaking fires.
They are so terrible.
I just read that there are now 7 wildfires burning in CO right now.

High:
Ben and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last Friday!

Low:
Tomorrow was our little one's due date.
So thankful for the sweet life I'm carrying now,
but still sad about the one we lost.

High:
We are healthy,
happy,
and incredibly blessed.
I'm thankful for each day I get to spend with my amazing husband and little ones.

I'm also hoping July is a tad calmer. :)

What a weekend!

Friday:
We came out of a store to find a beetle car parked right next to us!
Alice's beetle obsession has not simmered down even one bit.
She can spot them from a mile away!
So, this absolutely made her day:
Now she wants a pink beetle car WITH eyelashes!

It was a weekend of foster care perks.
(Doesn't happen often, so it's fun when it does!)

Saturday:
The circus!
Alice LOVED it!
She was worried about the clowns.
But, I explained to her that their job is to try to make you laugh.
Thankfully, the clowns didn't have crazy clown makeup on and she thought they were funny.

Sunday:
A trip to the North Pole!
This place is generally super pricy, so we jumped on the offer for us to go for $1/each!
It was so great!
I'd love to go back again.

Ben was such a good sport...as always.
He's a fantastic daddy!

She even rode a ride by herself!
(Literally all by herself. I'm thankful it wasn't very crowded there today.)
I couldn't get over how big she looked out there.

She picked out her clothes.
Can you tell?
I think it's because I told her we were going to a special place.
So, she picked out a special outfit, naturally.

All in all, a busy, but super fun weekend!

The Little One

I think part of the reason I've been such a blogging slacker is because
there's a huge part of our lives we cannot share much information about.

Our Little One has been in our family since November 1st
when we brought her home from the NICU.
She is now 9 months old!

We cannot imagine our family without her,
and yet that is still very much up in the air.
(We'd love prayer for that!)

So, here's a post all about you, Little!

Food:
She's an eating machine.
We did mostly Baby Led Weaning with her, like we did with Alice.
She's done great!
On this night, she chowed down on Channa Masala:

Sleep:
Meh. Not great.
She's up twice a night.
Thankfully, she takes a bottle and goes right back to sleep.

Developmental Milestones:
Crawling.
Getting into everything.
Able to pick up very small things...and put them in her mouth.
Babbling nonstop, including da-da. :)
Separation anxiety.
Drinks water from a sippy cup.

In short, everything a typical 9 month old does.
Truly amazing!

No teeth, yet, but we can feel them.
Soon.

The thing we hear most about her is,
"She's the happiest baby!"
And she really is.
(most of the time.)
She freely gives smiles and is easy to make laugh.
No one makes her laugh like Alice does though.
It's so fun to see those two interact!

We love you, sweet baby girl!
We are blessed to have you in our lives!

Things I don't want to forget (Alice edition)

1. Alice's Prayer.
Alice woke up yesterday morning and said she had a dream about Cookie.
(She calls my friend Carey, Cookie.)
She said Cookie wasn't feeling well.
Then, she closed her eyes and folded her cubby little hands and said,
"Dear Jesus,
Thank you for Cookie.
Please help her to feel better.
Amen."

I called Carey to tell her about it.
We both had tears in our eyes as Carey explained to me that
she had a bad headache though the night,
but now it was gone.

My little girl felt the Lord urging her to pray for our friend,
and she did.

I picked this picture because it makes me smile.
It's the Klenke family, with Alice.
Carey has been like her second mama from the beginning.

I also had to explain to Alice why she cannot marry Cookie.
I have no idea where she gets this stuff!

2. Danger.
I told Alice no about something.
Likely, her 100th popsicle request of the day.
Alice: "Don't say no to me.
That's dangerous!"

Learning so many new words...
just using so many out of context.
It's awesome.

3. Boys.
Yesterday in the car.
Alice: "I don't like boys.
The only boy I like is my boy.
Daddy."

This, I'm pretty sure she learns this boy stuff from the big girls at preschool. :)
There are also many boys she adores, so I know it's something she overheard somewhere.

4. Baby.
Alice is VERY into the baby growing in my belly.
She comes up to me many times a day, kisses my belly, and says, "I love your baby, mama."

She's pretty convinced there's a little girl in there, though the rest of the world seems to say boy.
When I asked what we should name the baby, if a girl, she suggested Barbara.
Vetoed!
She then suggested we name her Alice.

We find out next Wednesday for sure!
