Monsters University

Ben's company had a family movie night last week.

We debated whether or not to take Alice.
(We're pretty particular about what we let her watch.)

After reading a few reviews,
and watching trailers with Alice,
we finally decided to take her.
Figured we could leave at anytime.

She LOVED it!
Sat through the entire movie!
We were shocked.
It was probably the Reese's Pieces and the Sprite. :)
Regardless, it was a fun night for us all!

Making their best monster faces.

Also noteworthy:
She hasn't mentioned the movie even once since then.
Nothing about monsters at all!
We were a little worried about the potential aftermath
of seeing a movie about monsters scaring children.
Nothing.
It was apparently WAY over her head...

Kind of like how my grandmother used to let my sister and I watch Grease as kids.
I later watched it as an adult and was shocked!

Introducing...

Her name means merciful.
We love it and think it's perfect for her!

She will go by Clementine.
No nicknames...
unless she decides to want one later.

---------------------------
I keep trying to write about how to properly and politely respond
when you do not like the name a couple has chosen for their baby.
In short, the only appropriate response to the parent is something like,
"Awe! I'm excited to meet her!"

I'll spare you the story of why I think this is important to say.
Makes my blood pressure rise just thinking about it.
{deep breath}

34

(Just cleaned the pictures off my phone.
Get ready for some photo randomness.)

I turned 34 on Saturday.
I have completed 34 years of life.
You know what that means?
I'm older than Jesus.

(Swimming with Alice.
I do not love swimming.)

Having a summer birthday is pretty anti-climatic.
This is not news to us summer birthday people.
We learned this lesson early on.
(However, Ben and the girls did a wonderful job making it special.
One of the best birthdays ever!)

(I asked for a bottle of wine for my birthday.
I couldn't stop laughing when Alice walked in with this.
Klassy Mom of the Year right here.)

But, here's my favorite thing about having a summer birthday:
It's almost like getting 2 New Years.
It's a time to reflect, set goals, and celebrate.

So, as I was reflecting on this past year it boils down to this:

I am stronger than I thought I was.

It's been a challenging year, but one that has likely grown me more than any others.
And for that, I am grateful.

(She cat-kissed me.)

I'm grateful Ben and I grew closer during the hard/stressful times.
I'm grateful for getting to spend my days two sweet, funny, and busy little girls.
I'm grateful for the best friends a girl could ever ask for.
Grateful for a supportive family.
Grateful for this little life growing inside of me.
I am incredibly blessed.

I'm excited to see what the next year brings!

(My mini-flames for my minivan arrived today.
It made my day!)

Baby Update

It's significantly harder for me to do the pictures and updates
(like I did with Alice)
this time.
I'm pretty sure having 2 littles has something to do with that!

Seeing Lindsey's posts reminded me that I should get on the ball.

Here's what I've got:

(With the best white elephant gift ever.)

Symptoms:
So many glamorous symptoms happening up in here.
Melasma? Rocking it hard core.
Packing on the pounds? You know it.
Acute sense of smell? Working out at the gym is hard. Stinky men.
Exhaustion? Hard to know if it's the littles, the heat, or the pregnancy. Regardless, I love naps.

Cravings:
Not many, really.
One night. it was oranges.
Sometimes cheese dip.
I can eat 1/2 of a watermelon like it's nobody's business.

Gender:
She's a girl!
We have named her, but I'll share that in another post.

Sleep:
My wonderful husband installed an AC window unit in our room last night.
Sleep will be much better now!

Movement:
She's moving and grooving all the time!

Other stuff:
Alice often has a baby hiding in her shirt.
I think that's cute.
She's super excited about meeting this little one and cannot wait for October.
She also kisses my belly a lot and says,
"Mommy, I love your baby!" about 100 times a day.

Not sure if I've mentioned it yet, or not, but we're planning another home birth.
We love our midwife and loved our birthing experience with Alice.
Hoping for the same (but maybe a little shorter :) ) experience this time around.

It's fun knowing that we're having another girl...hopefully making 3 by the end of the year.
It's nice to know that we have everything we need!

Okay, nap time is almost over.
Time to clean something!
