Christmas! (and other things)

[Just when you thought you were finished seeing people's Christmas photos!]

December was magical.
We stayed home.
We kept it simple.
It was easy and peaceful.

At the end of the month, I kept hearing people say things like,
"I'm SO glad December is over!"
I did not say that.
I loved it.

Ben took Alice to see the Nutcracker.
It was pretty much the sweetest thing ever.

Preschool Christmas crafts!

Trips to the library

Went to see Santa!

Alice was awkwardly nervous.
Clementine wasn't a fan.

An unseasonably warm day called for a picnic!

...followed by more snowy days.

One morning, Alice asked if we can make a gingerbread house.
I pulled out some gluten-free graham crackers, a hot glue gun, and some candy,
and she went to town.
She had a blast and was so proud of her creation.

We went to church on Christmas Eve.
Alice stayed in the service with us.
I wish I had a picture of the moment all the candles were lit and we were singing Silent Night.
I whispered to Alice, "Would you like to hold my candle?"
Her expression made me want to cry.
She carefully held my candle while we sang.

Then, we went to Bonefish for dinner!
(I kind of love when Ben makes ridiculous faces for pictures.)

Christmas morning felt magical.
It was calm, serene.
I know that will likely change as the girls get older, but I hope not.

Later that morning, we went to Ben's parent's house with the whole family.
SO fun!
(Ben and Jonathan!)

The following week was fun, too.

Matching outfits from Nona:

Clementine is now a standing pro!
{One million cheers for Occupational Therapy!}

Crazy cold day and Alice still wanted to play outside.

They laugh SO hard when they take baths together.

We went to Chick-fil-A for dinner on New Year's Eve.
In typical CFA fashion, they did a fantastic job!
We had a great time!

2014, you were really great.
You were a year of rest for our family.
You were filled with the sweetest of memories.
2015 has a big shoes to fill!

Breckenridge!

Ben's parents gifted us a family trip to Breckenridge for Christmas.
The parents, their 3 kids + spouses + kids.
It was SO fun!

We have a little tradition of going out to breakfast before we head out on a road trip.
This time: Snooze in Denver.

Our first stop was the X-country ski lodge.
Ben's parents were skiing.
Clementine and I snuggled by the fire.

Ben and Alice played in the snow.

It was SO beautiful!

Where we stayed:

There was an indoor hot tub, which was so fun.
Alice and Uncle JB:

On our first full day, we took our girls to the Children's Museum.
Clementine in the bear cave:

Ben and Alice's MagnaTile tower:
It's a great little Children's Museum!

When we got home,
Clementine and Ben napped, while Alice and I played outside.
We went sledding.

Then, while running and pulling Alice in the sled on the street outside the house,
I slipped.
Fell straight down and tried to catch myself.
Fail.
Broke my wrist.
(That picture was actually a few days later once the swelling went down.
The other side of my arm was black and brown, too.)
I opted out of going to the ER.
Partly because it would've cost us a LOT of money since we hadn't paid into our insurance deductible at all in 2014. Thank you, Jesus.
But mainly because Nurse Debbie looked it over and said they'd simply immobilize it.
So, I did that.
For the record, it's now 6 weeks later and my wrist feels great.
Totally healed.
Boom.

Back to the trip.
Pictures from here on out are very scarce since I was one-handed.

A cute little fox visited.

Sledding with Daddy:

Family dinners each night:

Getting hurt was a huge bummer...especially since it happened the first day.
However, it forced me to slow down.
We ended up having a very relaxing long weekend.
It was lovely!

Well, the drive back was not lovely.
Took over 4 hours.
Thankfully, the girls were troopers!

Fall 2014 Family Pictures

I won an incredible photo shoot almost 2 years ago.
Because we thought our family would look different, I kept waiting to schedule it.
We truly believed we'd have 3 little girls in these photos.
Alas, God had different plans.

Anyway, here are our favorites:

I promised I narrowed them down.
We just loved SO many of them!

Megan Hardre is amazing.
Thank you, Mandy Houle, for hosting such an amazing fundraiser/raffle!
