Beaching- Day 7

Tuesday:
:sigh:
Last day.
Whomp-whoooomp.
Every day, I'd declare, "THIS is my favorite day!"
I'm pretty sure Tuesday really was my favorite day though.
The weather was perfect and the ocean was calm.

It was a fun science beach day, too!
They caught and held a butterfly for awhile before it took flight,
found lots of sea cucumbers,
and even "rescued" a fish by scaring a seagull who was about to enjoy a nice breakfast!

I thought I might regret not having even one belly picture from this pregnancy,
so I recruited Ben to do the job.
I love that he caught this moment when Clementine ran up and kissed my belly.
She does it often (hugging, kissing, talking to the baby), but her timing was impeccable this time. :)

After a full day of beaching, we went to the pool for one last swim.
Clementine surprised us by deciding she was ready to swim on her own!

Then, we took quick showers and walked down the beach for dinner.

The sunset was so beautiful!

In short, it was a fantastic vacation!
I can't imagine Disney ever trumping a trip like this for my little crew.
I mean, for an entire week, they played with a shovel, a bucket, and a net...and had a BLAST!
I'm thankful we can do pretty much nothing but be outside for a week
and it feels like perfection for all of us.

Wednesday:
Another long, 3-flight, travel day.
We came back to fall in Colorado!
Leaves everywhere!!
I love living in a place that's so wonderful that coming back from vacation is still fun.

So long, summer!

Beaching- Day 6

Monday:

We got up and went out to breakfast at The Donut Hole since it was a bit cloudy.
(It was bizarre to see people drinking huge sodas before 8am!)

By 8:15, the sun was out and we were back on the beach!
It was still double red flags, so they spent the day playing in the sand.

I could hardly believe it when Clementine fell asleep on me.
It's been a LONG time since she's napped, so it was a sweet moment.
Captured a picture with both babies. :)

We stayed at the beach until a little after 4, then went to the pool to swim for a bit.
They were both snoozing by 7 each night!

Beaching- Day 5

Sunday:

We stayed inside for most of the morning while we waited for the storm to blow over.
The rain was spotty, so during a break, we went out to see what the beach looked like!

After lunch, we suited up and headed to the indoor pool to swim for a bit.
Then, we walked to the Sugar Shack for ice cream!
We decided to walk back "home" via the beach.
The ocean was WILD, but it was really fun to see!

Alice stayed out for the rest of the afternoon, digging holes and making sand people sculptures.

All in all, it turned out to be a good day!

Beaching- Day 4

Saturday:

The clouds moved in and the ocean turned wild (double red flags = no swimming.)
But, it was still nice out in the morning, so we hit the beach!

Typical Clementine:

After a couple hours, we decided to check out the pool.
Alice really wanted to swim, so we pooled it up!

As the rain moved in, we spent the rest of the day inside.
Ben and I read books (I read 3 novels this trip!),
and the girls watched shows.
The forced break came at a great time, since we could all use some time out of the sunshine.

The storm hit hard that night/next morning.
We all slept poorly as the wind and rain whipped against the windows.

Beaching- Day 3

Friday:

By Friday, the weather reports were showing Nate to be hitting to the west of us,
but it looked like we'd have a weekend of rain.

Clementine asked for a snack about every 20 minutes.
She put a pretzel on her finger and declared she's marrying our little buddy, David.

This was the day Alice discovered her love of swimming in the ocean.
The water was calm enough that set my fears aside a bit and let her go for it.
(Although I kept my eyes on her every second she was out there.)
She dove into the waves and swam the day away.
I'm pretty sure she's part fish.

We LOVED getting to spend time with my mom (Nona) for the week!

Beaching- Day 2

Thursday:

Watching the dolphins swim by:

Alice and Ben found a live sand dollar!

We were at the beach for almost 9 hours this day!
I loved how much they loved it!

Beaching- Day 1

We woke up super early Tuesday morning to make the trip to DIA.
It was 39 degrees! Brr!
After a loooong travel day (3 flights) we made it to Rosemary Beach.
So incredibly thankful for easy traveler kids!

Wednesday:
We were all up bright and early the next morning, chomping at the bit to get to the beach.
The news reports were a bit concerning as they were predicting
Hurricane Nate to be heading directly towards us.
We decided not to worry and to enjoy the beautiful day.

We walked to dinner so we could sit outside and watch the beautiful sunset.

Septembery things

I decided September would be a month of summer/school.
The weather is still mostly awesome, but there's still school work to be done.
We can do both!

When Clementine is in preschool, we often go to this cute coffee shop to work:

We took the girls to The Melting Pot for a special dinner out.
They loved it, though the dark atmosphere made Clementine instantly tired...even though it was 5:30.

Labor Day Lift-Off!
Balloons + donuts = Fun, always

Alice was asked to be a scripture reader for the family service at church.
She did such a great job and I'm a proud mama!

Slip and Slide at the grandparents'!

Denver Zoo with the Rolletts!

Lots of swim days!

Alice made a restaurant for us, complete with menus and wine. :)
It was really sweet!

I LOVE when they do this:

Art class at the library:

Back to our zoo:

We got to feed the baby!

Gardening season is winding down.
On a cooler morning, I asked them to put on a good outfit to wear to the garden.
This was the result:

Another cozy reading shot:

Goof balls.

They set up a Poetry Teatime:

Science experiment at the library with our friends:

We'll have one final summer hurrah next week, and then we'll be in total school mode...I think. :)
